Welcome to Charleston Obsessed!!

“Welcome to Charleston, what’s your dream?”

This is a line from one of my favorite movies of all time, “Pretty Woman,”  with “Hollywood” in the original line switched to “Charleston.” A good friend and I spent probably a week here for a girl’s getaway many years ago, and this line stuck in my head through our whole visit. The city made quite an impression on me during that first trip, and to this day I still count my blessings every time I walk her charming streets or beautiful beaches. I know that Charleston has a bit of a cult following around the country and the world with repeated accolades in travel mags and top 10 lists. But truthfully, for someone who has spent the last 20 years here, I have to testify that it as wonderful as the articles claim. I love this city and look forward to sharing it with my readers through this blog, and over on Instagram @TheCharlestonLens.

If you are new to following me, I have an extensive collection of original Charleston photos on my instagram page @TheCharlestonLens. That page has functioned as my instablog for the past 9 years, where I started out sharing my life in Charleston, but ended up focusing on Charleston homes, gardens and the beaches with less life content. I wanted a spot on the internet that I could call my own where I could share and celebrate the magic of Charleston, while expanding to include more of  things that I find helpful (over 40 skincare and beauty), interesting (tech, cars, crypto), and inspiring (local real estate, home renovations and design) while indulging my love of fashion and shopping.

Speaking of shopping, as I create blog posts here, I will often provide shoppable links through LikeToKnowIt, sending you either to my “boutique” on the app, or directly to the retailers.  The app is free to download and use and offers useful search and save functions etc. Once you make a purchase through one of my links, I will receive a small commission from the retailer at no cost to you. I’m both nervous and excited to embark on this virtual journey. Through your feedback on my instagram page, I know there are so many folks who love Charleston as much as I do. I’m happy to share my beautiful hometown with you through this page, and hope to curate and create a digital Charleston lifestyle magazine and brand through my posts. Nothing like setting the bar high, right?
